JAMBI – Azkari GC’s slogan, “Come, Play, Win,” is more than just a catchphrase. Consistently participating in major tournaments and achieving remarkable results, this gateball club from Jambi has become a force to be reckoned with among gateball clubs in Indonesia.
Since its establishment in 2023, the club has also received an official decree from the Jambi City Gateball Association (Pergatsi). Although it was founded by gateball enthusiasts, Azkari GC has achieved impressive results, consistently participating in events outside Jambi, even reaching Bali.
“Our members initially came from gateball enthusiasts at Balai (BWS Sumatera VI Jambi), but now our athletes come from various backgrounds, including housewives, BPJN, the Public Works and Housing Office (PUPR), and several regencies. We currently have only six permanent athletes,” said Bisma on Wednesday (December 3, 2025).
According to Bisma, a club cannot grow if its players are not committed and flexible. In addition, the club is still entirely self-funded, driven by a shared passion and enjoyment of the sport.
Azkari GC currently trains on a synthetic futsal field in Citraland, which is converted into a gateball training venue twice a week.
“That location is also where Azkari GC develops gateball athletes in Jambi. However, on Saturdays and Sundays, gateball athletes from all over Jambi usually gather and train at the fields of the PUPR Office or the BPJN Jambi Office,” he explained.
“My hope is that Azkari GC will remain active and continue to participate fully in every event, both locally and outside Jambi,” Bisma concluded.
